With Teamcenter 2606, Siemens has released the latest version of its PLM platform, and it clearly demonstrates the direction in which product lifecycle management is evolving: closer to day-to-day work, closer to AI-powered support, and closer to end-to-end processes that span system boundaries.
As a Siemens Designcenter NX & Teamcenter partner, we closely monitor these developments – not only to stay up to date ourselves, but above all to help our customers realize the full potential of their systems. Three new features in particular have caught our attention.
1. Teamcenter Copilot: AI in everyday work becomes more versatile
Teamcenter Copilot now accesses much more than just documents. Newly integrated are CAD models, drawings, PMI data (Product and Manufacturing Information), and even text embedded in images – recognized via OCR.
Particularly relevant in practice: Answers are derived from the specific context of problem reports, ECRs, and ECNs. This makes knowledge from past change processes directly usable, rather than letting it get lost in individual data records. The solution is complemented by a native integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot – another step toward making AI support available right where engineering work takes place on a daily basis.
2. Active Workspace: One interface for each location
Active Workspace is getting a new default design and a fully customizable dashboard. The layouts are optimized for smartphones, tablets, and desktops – including direct use within Designcenter NX.
For companies, this means that designers, PLM key users, and decision-makers can access the same information using the device that best suits the situation, without having to switch between different interfaces or tools.
3. Teamcenter SAP integration and Polarion fewer interfaces, more consistency
With new native integrations with SAP S/4HANA (inspection plans and confirmation) and Polarion (automated change process), Teamcenter 2606 bridges the gap between engineering, quality, and manufacturing. Instead of manually reconciling data between systems, a seamless process flow is created – fewer interface efforts, fewer sources of error, and greater consistency throughout the entire product development process.
What this means for your business
These three innovations exemplify the direction in which PLM is moving at Siemens: away from isolated tools and toward a platform that considers AI, the user interface, and the system landscape as a whole. For medium-sized companies that already use Siemens Designcenter NX and Teamcenter, it’s worth taking a look at which of these features can be put to immediate use and where targeted adaptation to their own processes makes sense.
This is exactly where we come in: We help you integrate new features—such as Teamcenter Copilot or the SAP and Polarion integrations – into your existing workflows in a way that makes sense – from process analysis through implementation.
