Two months. Two countries. One goal.

A travelogue
February 18, 2026

During a several-week assignment abroad, our colleague Lucas had the opportunity to support an international customer project in the USA and Mexico. At the request of a company, he was sent to two locations as an expert to conduct Teamcenter training courses, ensure knowledge transfer, and provide technical support to the local teams. The assignment first took him to Gaffney, South Carolina (USA), and then to Santiago Tianguistenco near Mexico City.

For him, it was his first business trip of this magnitude – a unique combination of intensive project work, professional responsibility, and intercultural exchange. The preparation was correspondingly comprehensive, both in terms of content and organization, in order to meet the requirements of an international training assignment.

The focus of the stay in the USA was on several Teamcenter training courses for local users. The training sessions were held in morning and afternoon groups throughout the week and focused on the safe use of Siemens Teamcenter Active Workspace and on understanding the processes and functions that had already been implemented. The motivation and commitment of the participants was consistently high, which enabled an intensive professional exchange. The insights into customer-specific configurations, local workflows, and the local work culture were particularly valuable. A factory tour also helped to better contextualize the training content in the real production environment. The collaboration was rounded off by joint team experiences, such as a visit to Topgolf – a typical American form of team building.

After completing the assignment in the USA, the journey continued to Mexico. The destination was Santiago Tianguistenco near Mexico City. The significant cultural and organizational change was noticeable as soon as we arrived. The daily commute to the factory took us along a scenic highland route with mountain passes over 3,000 meters high.

In Mexico, training continued in the context of international projects. Here, too, the focus was on structured Teamcenter training, user support, and knowledge transfer. The training work was greatly appreciated by the local teams. The collaboration was characterized by a warm, open, and respectful working atmosphere and the high importance of personal relationships in everyday work. Despite different native languages, mutual openness, patience, and commitment resulted in a very good professional and personal exchange. An extensive factory tour—significantly larger than in the USA – provided additional insights into the local production processes.

The assignment abroad in the USA and Mexico was extremely enriching, both professionally and personally. In addition to the successful transfer of knowledge and support for our international teams, it provided valuable insights into different working cultures, strengthened international cooperation, and made a lasting contribution to intercultural experience.

Such an international project assignment is only possible with a high level of personal commitment, professional expertise, and intercultural openness. We would therefore like to express our special thanks to Lucas, who successfully supported this project on site with great dedication, professionalism, and passion.
